The Hearth of the Matter: A Fireside Chat

This Orlando residence needed a redesign. We put recessed built-ins to enhance the aged brick facade of the fireplace. We complimented them with two fireside chairs from Bernhardt interiors in a wide whale corduroy in Willow Green. We upgraded the fireplace to a gas/wood combination. The accessories were from Global Industries. We balanced the whimsy of the dogs with the hand painted birds. The clock is from a local antique shop in Stuart, Florida. The art over the fireplace is from a local artist in the Downtown Orlando area. The balance of accent color in the orange blossom family pops on the bookcases, but we gave it interest by moving the pop of color and not placing the items parallel to each other. We did th
e arch design over the fireplace and each of the built-ins by repositioning the brick to change the direction of everything. Instead of having all horizontal lines, now we have a vertical line. It's cozy and works with the adjoining kitchen to create a space with warmth and style.
